Hi Oak & Rove supporters!

Happy to share that we're in the final stages of production and should be wrapping up in the next few days.

There is one VERY IMPORTANT step for you to take as we prepare to finish up. We need you to please confirm your shipping address so that we can make sure we ship your order to the correct address.

You will receive an email from Backerkit in the coming days that will ask you to confirm your address. If everything looks good, you can ignore it. If it needs to be changed, you'll have an option to update that address. So, please be on the lookout!

Oak & Rove will not be responsible for deliveries to a wrong address due to customer input error.

With the bags almost complete, we will do QC inspection around July 6-7th, then the bags will be sent to our fulfillment center nearby. They should be shipped out to you around July 9-10th!

We thank you for your continued patience and looking forward to Your Kennedy Weekender bags to you ASAP!

Stay tuned,

-Harrison

Hi Oak & Rove fans,

As May is coming to a close, we wanted to provide you with a new update on the development of the Kennedy Weekender.

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who has pre-ordered and staying patient with us. We know this delay is inconvenient and we're doing everything we can to make sure things move forward quickly and smoothly.

The good news...

Raw materials are in production with an estimated 10-15 days left. The YKK zippers should be completed by second half of June. Once all of the materials are completed, we can finally begin bag assembly.

As this initial production run is small, we expect to be able to finish assembly in as quick as 5-10 days. With another few days added for QC, we're looking at the completion of production near the end of June. At this point we can ship to our nearby fulfilment center and then off to you! We'll have a more concise ship date to let you know of in June.

As soon as we can snap some pics of the assembly line and raw materials, we'll be sharing them with you.

In the meantime, we've been teasing out content on our Instagram that we think you might enjoy.

Hey Oak & Rove fans,

It's been roughly one month since our last update so we want to fill you in on what's happened since then.

First of all, we appreciate everyone's patience as we work out the kinks and get the bags produced to the highest level of quality possible.

With that said, we'd like to show you a sneak peak of the latest version of the bag. As we mentioned in last month's update, we made some design changes to the materials, primarily the front two pockets and the exterior fabric.

With a higher-grade premium nylon fabric for the exterior and full grain leather for the front pockets, the look is much more elevated all around.

Although it was a bit rainy, we went ahead and snapped a few shots so that we could share below.

We're very happy to hear from those of you who have reached out and expressed your excitement as well as your questions.

Let's address the main question now...

Why does this take so long?

Although we covered some of this info in our previous update here, we will reiterate for those of you who missed it.

To put it bluntly, it is not easy to produce a unique product from scratch and get everything up to the level that we require on the first try. This is precisely why we gave ourselves an original delivery date of April. We knew we needed that extra time to test and tweak iterations of the bag.

The time between our Indiegogo campaign in November and delivery in April should have been sufficient time to do what we needed; however, this was before COVID-19 came to light and caused disruptions across the entire global supply chain.

Our factory was shut down for an additional 6 weeks on top of their normal Lunar New Year. Furthermore, when the factory opened back up they were only operating at half capacity, so things moved slowly. Luckily now, they are back up to around 85% so things are moving forward.

This brings me to my second point regarding the long wait.

In our research in designing the bag, we found that zippers tend to cause a lot of headache for travelers and we wanted to solve this. Therefore, we tested lots of different zipper variations and different brands. Ultimately, we've landed on a very premium YKK zipper that not only looks great but is also smooth considering it's metal makeup.

This particular zipper style is only made to order and produced in Japan with a lead time of about 60 days. In other words, there is no stock lying around that we can take advantage of. We have to wait until it is made specifically for our bags.

Where are we now?

The zippers are in production and the remaining supplies and materials are ready to go. We are just waiting to receive the zippers from Japan and then can move forward. We've been told the zippers should be finished by June, at which point we can begin final assembly.

As our first order is not very large, assembly should only take 5-10 days. Then we go through quality control testing, ship to our fulfillment center and finally off to you, our backers.

With all that said, current estimate for delivery is June (pending final assembly).

We very much apologize for this inconvenience. Trust me when we say that we want more than anything to get these out to you as soon as we can. However, we're not going to deliver a bag that is subpar.

We'll continue to post updates as we make progress.

Thank you again for your support and understanding.

Stay tuned,

-Harrison

Hello Oak & Rove Supporters,

First of all, we hope you are staying safe and healthy in these uncertain times.

As the world takes a pause in the effort to contain the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are still pushing forward to get your bags delivered as safely and as quickly as possible.

We just wanted to give a quick update on the progress of the development of the Kennedy Weekender.

Fortunately, our factory and corresponding supply chains are back up and now operating at 80% capacity with improvements every week.

As our number one priority is to deliver the most stylish, high-quality and functional weekender on the market, we are making a few minor design and material changes that will improve the overall bag.

Our initial plan was to utilize an rPET material for the external body of the bag. However, during multiple tests, these materials did not meet our standards for exceptional quality and aesthetics.

Our goal was to use a sustainable material in order to reduce waste and lessen the environmental impact—but, if a bag cannot last you more than a few years, it is not sustainable after all. Due to this, we've changed the external material to an extremely high-quality, lightweight nylon twill that is water-resistant and very strong.

From an aesthetic standpoint, we wanted the bag to really have a luxurious look and feel. Although our initial prototypes looked great, we felt there was even more we could do to elevate the look.

We have since changed the two front pockets to full grain leather which matches the handles, shoulder strap, and trim.

We'll be sharing updated photos as soon as we get professional photos taken.

We're super excited to share this with you and appreciate your patience with us at this time.

As we mentioned in the previous update, the delivery has been pushed back due to the virus. However, we're still shooting for a delivery in May or at the very latest June.

Please stay tuned as things move forward.
